The Rape Crisis Center of Milford works throughout seven cities, including West Haven, to provide support for victims of sexual assault and to prevent future instances through education.
Their services are available 24/7 to people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. They also offer male and bilingual advocates as well as free interpretation services for languages other than English.
You might have seen an advocate from the center already. They have been popping into English classes, educating students on the resources available to them and methods of assault prevention and consent.
They work closely with the school-based health center and our social workers to ensure students are supported in the most effective way possible.
To keep all services completely free for victims and their families, the center relies on donations and fundraising. You can support the center on Sunday, April 27th, by participating in their “walk in her shoes” walkathon, which will promote awareness on sexual abuse and raise funds. See the flier below for more information.
It’s important to note that no matter what happened, when it happened, or who harmed you, you have a right to feel safe and comfortable.
As hard as it can be to come forward, always remember there is someone in your corner and all you have to do is reach out. They are here to listen.
