Students in the Bel Canto choral ensemble had the incredible opportunity to perform in the one-hundred fifty-member Octavo Series Chorus at Carnegie Hall in New York City in March.
Carnegie Hall is internationally known as one of the most prestigious performance destinations for the world’s finest artists.
The Bel Canto students took the train to New York City, where they spent four days and three nights. They rehearsed with other advanced high school and collegiate choral students from all over the country. They had the opportunity to perform under the direction of two college professors including Dr. Felicia Barber. She is the Camerata Choral Conductor at the Yale School of Music!
Mr. Thomas and his chorus students raised over $20,000 in less than 2 months to make this happen.
During their stay, they also had the opportunity to see a Broadway show, tour the city, visit “Top of the Rock NYC” at Rockefeller Center, ate at great restaurants, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
In this video, we have an excerpt from this incredible performance and a look at what students had to say about the experience. The video was produced by Aylin Mogollon and the voiceover was provided by Katherine Garcia.
