Are you looking for a place where science, career opportunities, and a whole bunch of fun come together? If so, you should apply to EVOlutions – a free youth program at the Yale Peabody Museum for New Haven and West Haven high school students. Through weekly classes, monthly events, research internships and museum jobs, EVO prepares you for college and more!
EVO creates a safe and welcoming space – both physically and socially – where students can show up as their full selves. It’s not just a classroom; it’s a community. Through weekly after-school classes, students work closely with peers, museum educators, and real scientists to explore science, culture, and communication. Every session brings something new – guest speakers, hands-on activities, college workshops, and so much more.
Through the Science Career Orientation and Readiness Program, or Sci.CORPS, students can become Peabody Museum Gallery Educators. These students run interactive carts, explain exhibits to visitors, and learn how to break down science in a way anyone can understand with hands-on activities and crafts. Paleontology, Anthropology, and Dynamic Nature are some of the many topics that Gallery Educators teach visitors about every weekend.
For students deeply interested in research, EVO also offers exclusive internships in Yale science labs. Selected students get to work alongside Yale professors and graduate students, participating in over 100 hours of actual lab or field research.
EVO is looking for students who are creative, curious, driven, and ready to find out what their future could look like in science, careers, and beyond. So if you’re interested in exploring science, meeting new people, gaining work and research experience, and readying yourself for the next step in your life – the EVOlutions Program is the right place for you!
