Two West Haven High School seniors who think they should have had more exposure to engineering as children started a club to teach local kids about robotics.
Sufyan Sayed and Tanjib Jamil started the club in their junior year. They teach first through eighth graders about robotics like it’s a new language. The club gives kids an opportunity to take engineering kits home to tinker some more.
In order for RoboReach to teach kids, they have to collect donations, and they’ve had support from many West Haven businesses, like Casa Bianca Pizza and the S&S Mini Mart. They raised about $1600 dollars from these businesses’ help.
The support led to them being able to host educational sessions at libraries in West Haven and New Haven. They realized many kids want to learn about robotics, and they saw kids who had a special talent for it.
RoboReach became so well known in the community that the New Haven Register did a story on them and they were also on News8.
RoboReach’s goal is to spread their mission around the U.S, and they even hope to go international to help kids around the world who are less fortunate to learn about robotics.
