Our Rostrum school news team started a new tradition this year called “The Rosties.” Members of the club nominated our outstanding anchors and videos for awards and the West Haven High School staff were our judges.

Ismael Alvarez took home the title of Anchor of the Year. Nina Hodgins and Amanda Fagnani tied for runner up.
The vote for best formal video of the year came in at a tie. The co-winners were Aylin Mo goal on for her video about the Bel Canto trip to New York and Alijah Lugo for her video about the “Letters with Love” club. The runner up was Ash Richardson’s video, “Good Luck Football Team.”
The winner of the funniest video of the year was Antoine Edmond with his “Cooking with Ant” segment. Ash Richardson was the video editor.
The runner up for funniest video of the year was the Rostrum Investigative Team’s investigation into the Loch Ness monster. Tyler Geer produced that video, with help from alums Connor Tuttle and Ashton Gleed.
The winner of best recurring segment was Devon Nichols’ for his “Westie Weekend Weather.” Congratulations Devon!
Runner up was the “What Song Are You Listening To?” Segment by Jacob Smalls and Cody Carter.
We also honored Rostrum MVPs Mars, Aylin, Kadidja and Akima who go above and beyond to make sure the news gets on the air every day.
After the awards ceremony, we announced The Rostrum officers for next year. Mariah Hartshorn handed the title of Editor-in-chief to Esmeralda Sisson. Congratulations Esmeralda! She will be assisted by the team you see here.
Prior to the awards ceremony, we had a fun Alumni Day event, where some Rostrum alumni came back to tell us how college is going for them.
