Our football team beat Shelton on Friday in the first home game of the season. The final score was 21 to 10.
In the first quarter, senior Amir Daniley (#4) had a 25-yard touchdown run.
Before halftime, West Haven was able to add to their lead with an 8-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Mason Wright (#3) to senior AJ Johnson (#8).
In the final quarter of the game, Daniley secured the 21-10 win with an incredible 84-yard punt return to the house.
Coach Tom Unger notes that the defense also had a strong game. Trew Kitson (#5), Amir Daniley (#4), CJ Sutton (#11) and Jorrae Dupree (#17) had interceptions and Darryl Small (#10) and Cordell Barrow (#1) both recovered fumbles. The defense forced six turnovers.
TJ Stevenson was named Player of the Game.
Congratulations to Tom Unger on taking the W in his first home game as head coach! Next the team plays Staples in an away game on Friday.
