We are training our new morning news team, and we’ll be back on the air as soon as possible. Until then, we’ll post a set of announcements each day for teachers to read to their advisories. And if you scroll down, you’ll find videos your advisories might enjoy.
Today’s announcements:
- Debate Team. The WHHS Debate Team will hold its first practice on Friday 9/6 after school in Room C-206. All new and returning team members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The Debate Team is coached by members of the Yale University Debate Team and offers an incredible opportunity to improve your speaking skills, meet new people, and have fun competing against students from area high schools at monthly tournaments on the Yale campus. (NOTE: Debate Team practices will be held on Fridays this semester because that is the only day that works for the Yale coaches. Therefore, all WHHS students should know that know that there is no late bus on Fridays so students must arrange their own transportation home from school. Practices will end at 2:50 p.m.)
- Fall Sports Parent Meeting. There will be a parent/athlete meeting for all fall sports participants on Sept. 24 at 7 pm in the auditorium.
- Senior Yearbook Google Classroom. Here is the code for the Class of 2025 Yearbook Google Classroom: zycpc3i. This is where you will find information on senior portraits, yearbooks and more. FYI: Seniors must have their senior portraits taken by DECEMBER in order to be in the yearbook.
- Ace Mentor Program. Students, if you are interested in participating in a nationwide program designed to introduce you to a wide range of career opportunities open to young people in architecture, construction, engineering, and related areas of the building design and construction industry, the ACE program might be for you. If you are interested, students can see Mr. Rice in Room F124 or email him at eric.rice@whschools.org. See more information in the gallery of fliers below.
- GoFan Ticket Info. West Haven High School is ready for the new year and excited for all the events to come. To ensure students, staff, and fans are safe and can easily access events, we have partnered with GoFan to provide digital tickets and contactless payments. To buy tickets, visit our GoFan page gofan.co. See the flier below for more information.
- Model UN. The first meeting of the Model UN club will be on Monday, September 9 in room D114 with Mrs. Ficaro. We will discuss the upcoming Model UN conference at UNH on Oct. 27.
