West Haven High School added a brand new and exciting sport last winter. With the thought of winning on their mind, current members on the latest wrestling team train hard to make the community proud.

The goal in winning is to force your opponent to the ground for a minimum amount of time. To keep equal opportunity, players are sorted into weight classes and compete against each other in matches. 

Coaches James Cook and Gabe Martinez started the team last season with a co-op with Notre Dame. This will be their first ever season competing as the official West Haven High School team.

At Black Wolf Martial Arts in Orange, the team holds practices Sunday mornings. The experienced players show the team different techniques to improve their game. 

The team has a tight bond that encourages everyone else to keep up and push themselves to stay strong. Even beginners have found a home in this partnership.
