A coach and sports radio broadcaster visited Mr. Kirck’s Sports and Culture class recently to tell students about career opportunities in the sports world.
George DeMaio is a West Haven native and graduate of West Haven High School. While he went to school here he lettered in basketball and baseball and was named Athlete of the Year in 1966.
He started his career at KC101 in 1983. He was named Sports Director for KC101 and WAVZ.
He has spent his career covering high school sports. He has been inducted to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame, and the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Mr. Kirck said he loves exposing his students to people like Coach Demaio, who show all the opportunities in sports careers.
