West Haven High School gives students the opportunity to earn college in many ways, including from Early College Experience (ECE) courses. The school has partnered with Southern Connecticut State University, the University of Connecticut, the University of New Haven, Albertus Magnus College, and Gateway Community College to bring official college courses into high school classrooms. Students can save up to thousands of dollars in tuition by taking these classes in high school rather than in college. ECE courses vary from the typical Advanced-Placement (AP) course that our school offers because the curriculum for ECE courses tends to be more flexible than the standardized AP curriculum. Overall, ECE courses give students an opportunity to uniquely challenge themselves, and save money while doing so.
