Good morning Westies! We don’t have an episode for you today, we’ll be back tomorrow. Homeroom teachers, please read these announcements:

The JV Baseball team has a Home game today at 3:45 p.m. against Daniel Hand.

The boys tennis team has a home game at 3:45 p.m. against Sheehan.

The girls and boys track team has a home game at 3:45 p.m. against Cheshire and Shelton.

The Choral Department will be having a concert on Thursday, May 19. The theme is “A Tribute to Stevie Wonder” and there will be a guest band. The concert will be at 7 pm in the auditorium. No tickets are required.

The Creative Writing Club will meet after school on Wednesday, May 11 in room D114.

West Haven High School is excited to present Culture Day on Friday May 13th. During the school day, students will be encouraged to wear outfits that represent their culture and are school appropriate. And then from 5 to 8 pm there will be a celebration with food, games, music, pictures and more. Tickets to the evening event are $2. Culture Day is being sponsored by the Muslim Student Association, HOSA, and the International Club. If you want to get involved or buy a ticket, stop by F314 or see a member of MSA.

Do you like to garden? Well then check out the school’s gardening club! It will be meeting every Wednesday after school in room B212. For more information see Mr. Klink.

GSA, our Gender Sexuality Alliance, meets this Wednesday May 11th after school in D314. Feel free to join us!

The Junior Class Council will be meeting today after school in room F214.

Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness month? To create awareness, we are selling green paper ribbons for $1 each. The proceeds will go towards restocking our school pantry. Please contact Mrs. Penna in J120 to order. Sales will go until May 23rd.

The National Honor Society Induction will be on May 24th on the Football field at 10 am.

The Class of 2024 is having a Rib Rally on Tuesday May 17th at Texas Roadhouse. $13 gets you a half rack of ribs or grilled chicken, as well as french fries, rolls with butter and peanuts. Please see Mrs. McCauley in F219 or a member of the sophomore class council to place an order. Don’t miss out, these are delicious and you don’t have to cook!

The Senior award ceremony will take place May 18th in the auditorium at 5 PM.

Summer Job Applications are now available! You can pick them up every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the lobby from 7:00 AM until 9:00 AM. for the month of May.

The Top 20 Breakfast will be on May 13 at 9 am in West River Hall.

The WHHS Art Showcase will be in the lobby on Wednesday May 25th from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. We will have art on display from our visual art department. Students from the band, choral and theater departments will be performing. The culinary arts department will be providing light snacks and copies of West Whims will be on sale. Come join us!

Signing day will be May 19th in the lobby at 9 am.

All WHHS Library books must be returned by May 20th. See Mrs. Woychowski with any questions.
