Welcome to The Teacher’s Pet, the PAWesome news column about our teachers’ furry, feathered, and finned friends. For May’s article, I asked Ms. Khan about her pet cats, Mavis and Gizmo.

 Q: When did you adopt your pets?

A: I adopted my first cat Mavis in January of 2021 and Gizmo October of 2023

Q: What is your favorite memory with your pets?

A: My favorite memory of both of them is when I am sitting on the couch and they both come to cuddle with me. Sometimes they will even cuddle with each other! 

Q: Do your pets have a favorite treat? If yes, what is it?

A: Yes! They love treats in general–they even know where they are. I had to put child safety locks on the cabinets so they don’t get to them!

Q: Can your pets do tricks? If yes, please list what tricks they can do:

A: Mavis is very good at playing fetch. She will bring a toy in her mouth to me and meow, which will make me know she wants to play fetch!
