Both the boys basketball team and the Unified Sports team are heading to state championship games at Mohegan Sun on Saturday.
The Unified Team will face Windsor in the State Championship game at Mohegan Sun on Saturday at 11:45. The team made it to the championships after beating Bassick 38 to 28 last Saturday.
And the varsity basketball team upset Notre-Dame West Haven 43 to 42 on Monday night, advancing to Saturday’s Class double L state championships against Staples at Mohegan Sun.Â
The Blue Devils went into Monday’s game as the underdogs, after losing three times to the number-one ranked Green Knights earlier this season. The Blue Devils have a record of 23 and 4 as they head into this championship game.
The last time the boys basketball team won the state title was 1987. The team was in the state championship game two years ago, but came up short in a 59 to 57 loss against Windsor.
Here are interviews with three of the players about how they’re feeling going into Saturday’s title match.
